Hellen is one of our most treasured volunteers. She joined TimeGivers early on, dedicating time each week to support our rapidly growing Giving-Back Clubs. Recognising the importance of giving back, and with some extra time in her schedule, she has applied her expertise as a top-rated nanny (she’s even won Nanny of the Year!) to our work with students. Hellen has been instrumental in running our various clubs, from cooking to a newly launched art club. Her skills have been particularly valuable for working with students with SEND where her professionalism, teaching skills and nurturing approach truly shine.
Hellen brings warmth and real joy to every activity, ensuring everyone around her feels safe and supported. She’s a true advocate for TimeGivers, believing that every child - regardless of background - should have the chance to volunteer and give back. Her incredible generosity with her time and skills is shown in her dedication to leading these clubs. We have immense love and respect for Hellen who is, without a doubt, one of our most dedicated volunteers. We’re deeply grateful for her ongoing journey with us - TimeGivers wouldn’t be the same without her! Thank you so much, Hellen.

Q: How did you first hear about TimeGivers?
A: I first heard about TimeGivers when the amazing team came to my child's school to lead an event.
Q: How do you think volunteering with TimeGivers has impacted you?
A: Volunteering has been so beneficial to me. It has deepened my connection with my local community, stretched my professional skills and genuinely improved my mental health and wellbeing.
Q: What do you think is the benefit of TimeGivers for young people?
A: I think the benefits for young people are even more advantageous. Giving them practical life skills and a sense of confidence. Providing a sense of community and social interactions with wider age groups.
Q: Do you remember a particularly special moment?
A: I have had so many 'special moments' when volunteering, but I have especially loved witnessing the sense of achievement on children’s faces when they realise they have learnt something new, and the look of pride when they donate something they have made.
Q: Why do you like working with TimeGivers?
A: In a world that can sometimes seem very negative and scary and in a time where children’s mental health has never been more important, TimeGivers is a breath of fresh air. Proving every day that the smallest of gestures and the briefest of time can make a huge difference to an individual, a community and the world.
